We’re Janie and Bob Hawley, and helping families prepare has been part of our lives since 1986. We began with grain mills, food storage, and other preparedness essentials under a different company name. Today, we continue that work as Discount Preparedness—with practical products, fair prices, and personal guidance.
Janie is a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who enjoys gardening, canning, preserving, camping, and the everyday skills of self-reliant living. She is a Certified Master Gardener and Certified Master Preserver through Utah State University. She has spoken at preparedness expos and community events, shared preparedness advice on radio programs, and trained with the American Red Cross Disaster Action Team and FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team.
Together, we served a two-year mission at the LDS Home Storage Center in Southern Utah, helping families obtain long-term food storage basics. We’ve also coordinated community group orders and taught gardening, preserving, water filtration, food storage, solar cooking, and portable solar power.
